Spotting Crypto Scams: 6 Red Flags That Always Hold

CryptoRebateHub Editorial Team

Guaranteed returns, urgency, approval/transfer requests, DM "signals" — when these show up, it is almost always a scam.

Crypto is dense with scams, but the playbooks rhyme. These six red flags block 95% of them.

1. Guaranteed returns "Risk-free," "principal-protected high yield," "2% daily" — no risk-free high return exists in any market. A promise is the scam.

2. Urgency "Only 3 spots left," "ends at midnight" — manufactured time pressure exists to stop you thinking. Standard con tooling.

3. Approval / transfer requests A strange dApp asking for unlimited token approval, or "support" telling you to move funds to a "safe account" — both are wallet-draining preludes.

4. DM "signals" / coin tips "Mentors" running paid-call groups, airdrop DMs, celebrity livestream giveaways (enter your seed to claim) — all scripted.

5. Lookalike domains and fake apps Spoofed exchange domains (one extra letter), "apps" outside official stores, fake sites in search ads. Always verify the domain by hand.

6. Anyone asking for your seed / private key Anyone, for any reason, asking for your seed phrase or private key is 100% a scammer. Legit services never ask.
