Your seed phrase is the master key to your wallet. Anyone with it can take everything. Offline, handwritten, never uploaded.
What it is The 12 or 24 words your wallet gives you at setup are the human-readable form of your private key. They restore all your assets in any compatible wallet — so they are your assets.
Never do this Screenshot it, photograph it, save it to your phone gallery, cloud, or notes app, email or message it to yourself, or type it into any website or "support" agent. These are the top theft vectors.
Do this instead
- Write it on paper by hand (or a metal plate for fire/water resistance). 2) Keep at least two copies in separate physical locations. 3) Verify spelling and order. 4) Consider an extra passphrase (a "25th word") on a hardware wallet.
Common scams "Wallet upgrade requires re-verifying your seed," "connect and sign to claim the airdrop," "support will help you recover" — all designed to extract your seed. Remember: legitimate services never ask for it.
