Spotting Fake Apps and Fake Sites

App stores and search results are littered with fake exchange/wallet apps and sites. A few checks before installing or logging in can save your funds.

How Fakes Get In

Scammers publish copycat apps with near-identical names and icons, or buy search ads to rank fake sites at the top. There is also the "DM you an APK/link to sideload" trick that bypasses store review. The moment you enter a password or seed in a fake app/site, your funds are gone.

Checks Before Installing

  1. Reach the store only via the official download link on the official site. 2) Check the developer name, download count, reviews, and update history. 3) Verify the domain letter by letter; distrust "official site" ads. 4) Never sideload an unknown installer. 5) Enable 2FA at first login and watch for unusual permission requests.
