Price trends, time windows and peak gains after all four Bitcoin halvings

Bitcoin halving is the mechanism that cuts miner rewards by 50% every 210,000 blocks. As of 2024, there have been four halvings:

1st Halving (Nov 28, 2012) Reward: 50→25 BTC. ~12 months later, BTC rose from ~

2 to ~
,150 — a peak gain of ~+8,100%.

2nd Halving (Jul 9, 2016) Reward: 25→12.5 BTC. ~17 months later, BTC rose from ~$650 to ~

9,700 — peak gain ~+2,900%.

3rd Halving (May 11, 2020) Reward: 12.5→6.25 BTC. ~18 months later, BTC rose from ~$8,600 to ~$69,000 — peak gain ~+700%.

4th Halving (Apr 20, 2024) Reward: 6.25→3.125 BTC. Cycle ongoing — BTC hit an all-time high of ~

11,860 within 8 months.

Pattern: New highs after every halving, but peak gains have been shrinking as Bitcoin's total market cap grows and elasticity decreases.
