Gate.io Fee Rebates Explained: Small-Cap Slippage, Code Checks and Payout Records

CryptoRebateHub Editorial Team

Gate lists many assets, and on thinly traded coins slippage and spread often dwarf the fee. A small-cap order example shows what a rebate actually saves, how to check the code at sign-up and how to verify payouts afterwards.

Direct answer: when trading thin coins on Gate, control slippage and spread before thinking about rebates; a rebate only reduces the fee.

Gate base fees

Regular Gate.io users (VIP 0) pay 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker on spot, and 0.02% maker / 0.05% taker on perpetuals; the official fee page is authoritative. Rules for holding or paying fees with GT change from time to time, so check the current fee page.

The real cost of a small-cap buy

Suppose you market-buy 2,000 USDT of a thinly traded coin and your average fill is 0.8% above the best ask when you placed the order:

  1. Slippage: 2,000 × 0.8% = 16 USDT.
  2. Fee: 2,000 × 0.10% = 2 USDT.
  3. If the account confirms a 20% fee rebate: 2 × 20% = 0.4 USDT.

Slippage is eight times the fee, and the 0.4 USDT rebate barely matters. Before ordering, check order-book depth, the bid-ask spread and 24-hour volume, and split large orders into limit orders. The slippage calculator estimates the impact.

Check the code at sign-up

Gate’s official sign-up flow asks you to choose your country or region and accept the terms first, then pick email or phone, enter the verification code and set a password. Gate does not promise that every entry point fills the code automatically, so confirm the code field shows this site’s code AIKGWTFN before you submit, and check again if you switch from web to app.

Existing accounts and changing the referrer

Do not assume a bound referral relationship can be changed after sign-up, and do not open duplicate accounts to “switch rebates”; that can breach the terms. For an existing account, check the referral record first, then follow Gate’s official rules or ask support.

Verify payouts after sign-up

Keep trade records, the fee currency and settlement times, and compare confirmed amounts on the referral or rebate page. An expected rebate is not a credited balance; if records are missing, ask Gate’s help center. The method is in the rebate statement audit.
