Crypto Slippage & Price Impact Calculator

Order size and pool liquidity → AMM price impact and minimum received

What is the Crypto Slippage & Price Impact Calculator?

Slippage is the difference between expected and executed price; price impact is the movement caused by the order itself. This tool models both with a 50/50 constant-product AMM.

How do I use the Crypto Slippage & Price Impact Calculator?

Enter pool TVL, order size, fee and tolerance. Impact rises nonlinearly as the order grows relative to one side of the pool; split the order or use deeper liquidity when needed.

What should I watch out for?

Real routes may span multiple pools, and concentrated liquidity, MEV, front-running and token taxes change the result. Wallet or aggregator simulation is authoritative.

How the Crypto Slippage & Price Impact Calculator works

Estimates price impact, expected output and minimum received for a swap in a 50/50 constant-product AMM pool (x × y = k) from pool TVL, order size, pool fee and slippage tolerance. It helps DeFi users judge whether an order is too large for a pool.

What you enter

  • Pool TVL (USD), default 1,000,000
  • Order size (USD), default 10,000
  • Pool fee (%), default 0.3
  • Slippage tolerance (%), default 1

What it shows

  • Verdict: Within selected tolerance or Impact exceeds tolerance
  • Expected output value (USD)
  • Impact + fee (%)
  • Minimum received (USD)
  • Order / side reserve (%)

How to use it

  1. Enter the pool TVL in USD.
  2. Enter your order size in USD.
  3. Set the pool fee (%), for example 0.3.
  4. Set your wallet's slippage tolerance (%).
  5. Check the verdict; if impact exceeds tolerance, shrink or split the order.

Formula

R = TVL / 2; a = order × (1 − fee % / 100); output = R × a / (R + a); impact + fee = (1 − output / order) × 100; verdict compares impact excluding the fee, (1 − output / a) × 100, with the tolerance; minimum received = output × (1 − tolerance % / 100). Pair price normalized to 1:1.

Worked example

TVL 1,000,000 USD, order 10,000 USD, fee 0.3%, tolerance 1%. R = 500,000; a = 9,970. Output = 500,000 × 9,970 / 509,970 ≈ 9,775.08 USD. Impact + fee ≈ 2.25%; impact excluding fee ≈ 1.96%, above the 1% tolerance. Minimum received ≈ 9,775.08 × 0.99 ≈ 9,677.33 USD. Order / reserve = 2%.

How to read the result

  • Impact grows non-linearly as the order grows relative to one pool side.
  • The Impact + fee tile includes the pool fee; the verdict uses impact without it, because the quote already includes the fee.
  • If impact exceeds tolerance, a real transaction would likely revert or need a wider tolerance.

Limits and cautions

  • Real routes may split across pools or use concentrated liquidity.
  • MEV, front-running and token transfer taxes are not modeled.
  • Your wallet or aggregator simulation is the authoritative quote.

Common questions

What is the difference between slippage and price impact?

Price impact is the move your own order causes in the pool. Slippage is the gap between quoted and executed price, which also includes other trades that land before yours.

What slippage tolerance should I set?

Set it just above the expected impact. A much wider tolerance invites worse fills and sandwich attacks.

How do I reduce price impact?

Use a deeper pool or an aggregator route, or split the order into smaller trades.
