What to Prepare Before Buying Bitcoin

Use a practical checklist for budget limits, account security, purchase route and a small test before placing an order.

Write Down the Money Boundary

Start with money that will not affect rent, emergency savings or near-term needs even after a large drawdown. Ask how much loss you can tolerate and how long you can leave the money untouched—not how much you might make. Use a manageable test amount for the first transaction.

Finish Account Security First

Use a dedicated email and strong password, enable authenticator-based two-factor authentication, save recovery codes and verify the official domain. SMS can be a backup but should not be the only protection. Avoid login links from DMs, ads or unknown QR codes.

Complete One Small End-to-End Test

Complete one small loop first: deposit, buy spot, inspect the execution fee, set withdrawal protections and—if self-custody is needed—test a small withdrawal. Confirm each step before increasing size. This separates operational mistakes from market risk.
