What Is an NFT?

An NFT is a unique on-chain certificate. Beyond profile-pic art, its broader meaning is "verifiable ownership and credentials."

What "Non-Fungible" Means

Fungible assets are interchangeable — one BTC equals another BTC. Non-fungible means each is unique and not interchangeable, like concert tickets with different seats. An NFT uses the chain to record "who owns this specific item."

Beyond Profile Pictures

During the hype, NFTs were mostly avatar art, but the underlying capability — a verifiable, transferable unique credential — fits tickets, memberships, domains, game items, and on-chain certificates. Before buying, separate "speculative collectible" from "useful credential"; the former is extremely high-risk.
