Using a Block Explorer: Verify, Do Not Trust Blindly

A block explorer is the public lookup tool for the chain. Learning to verify transactions, addresses, and tokens with it avoids many scams.

What You Can Look Up

A block explorer lets anyone look up: whether a transaction succeeded/confirmed, an address's balance and history, and a token contract's details and holder distribution. On-chain data is public and transparent — you do not have to "take someone's word," you can verify it yourself.

Practical Checks

  1. Someone claims "I sent it" — verify the transaction hash to see if it actually succeeded and arrived. 2) Before buying a token, check whether holders are highly concentrated (a few addresses holding most = risk) and whether the contract is verified/open-source. 3) Beware "same-name fake tokens": verify the official contract address, not just the name/icon.
